China's retail sales saw steady growth in 2018, according to a report published by the Ministry of Commerce. Last year, the sales volume stood at 33.8 trillion yuan (about $4.78 trillion), up 8.9 percent from 2017, the report showed.

Chinese mobile technology firm OnePlus has started exporting smartphones made in India to western markets including the United States, an Indian newspaper reported on Saturday.

Manzhouli, the largest land port on the China-Russia border, has seen 5,000 China-Europe freight trains since 2013, according to local customs. There are currently 52 routes of China-Europe freight trains via the land port, which help promote the trade between over 60 Chinese cities and 28 cities in 13 European countries including Germany, Poland and Belgium, according to the customs.

China should improve the yuan exchange rate management and shift to a more flexible regime along with in-depth financial opening-up, a leading financial think tank said.

Nearly 100 listed companies in China's A-share market are forecasted to see their net profit double in the first three quarters of 2019, the China Securities Journal reported.

China's service trade totaled 3.57 trillion yuan (about $505 billion) in the first eight months of 2019, up 3 percent year-on-year, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Saturday.

China's investment in the high-tech manufacturing industry further expanded in the first eight months of this year, official data showed. From January to August, the investment grew 12 percent year-on-year, quickening 0.9 percentage points from that in the January-July period, according to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
