Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Chinese tech heavyweight Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, announced on Thursday it will invest 7 billion yuan ($1 billion) to upgrade its global partner ecosystem over the next three fiscal years, and establish six service centers across the globe, as the company ratchets up its international expansion.

With a large number of Chinese companies rushing to fill their offices with the right people overseas, LinkedIn, a California-based professional networking platform provider, will upgrade the operation of its business-to-business, or B2B, in China to assist more domestic companies to increase their global presence, said an executive.

With the approaching weeklong National Day holiday, the booking volume of domestic flights is expected to grow further as the air travel market continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. In August, China's civil aviation industry handled approximately 32.3 million passenger trips, up 44.2 percent over July.

The Chinese mainland on Saturday reported 159 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 86 were in Guizhou and 40 in Sichuan, according to the National Health Commission's report on Sunday. A total of 601 local asymptomatic carriers were newly identified.

Globalization has triggered a remarkable growth in the number of international students enrolling in institutions outside their home countries. China is not excluded, and indeed its growing economy and a rapidly expanding middle class, together with the premium attached to quality education in its culture, have progressively made Chinese students one of the largest groups of foreigners in American, Australian and European universities.

China's renminbi is expected to continue its steady rise in global use and play a bigger part in safeguarding international financial stability, as the country further advances its financial opening-up while deepening trade and investment cooperation, experts said.

The China Development Bank has provided another 150 billion yuan (about 21.45 billion US dollars) to support major infrastructure projects, according to the bank. The funds are part of the additional 300 billion yuan of infrastructure investment announced by the government in late August, and have financed 421 infrastructure projects, the bank said.
