Chinese internet company Meitu on Wednesday reported its revenue in the first half of 2022 increased by 20.5 percent year-on-year to 971.2 million yuan ($141 million). During the period, Meitu recorded an adjusted net profit attributable to the parent company of 36 million yuan, increasing 7.9 percent year-on-year.

The Chinese mainland Saturday reported 314 locally-transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 98 were in Sichuan and 79 in Guangdong, the National Health Commission said on Sunday. Altogether 1,359 local asymptomatic carriers were newly identified on Saturday, including 505 in Tibet, 131 in Qinghai and 113 in Liaoning, said the commission in its report.

Market supply of China's daily necessities is generally sufficient, with slight price fluctuations, an official with the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday. Wholesale prices of grain, pork, eggs and vegetables went up by 0.4 percent, 1.4 percent, 4 percent and 6.2 percent, respectively, in the week from Aug 22 to Aug 28, compared with the first week of August, ministry spokeswoman Shu Jueting told a press conference.

New development drivers are increasingly underpinning China's growth, adding to economic vitality and innovation capability, an index shows. The new growth driver index, compiled by the National Bureau of Statistics, increased by 35.4 percent in 2021 from a year earlier to 598.8, the bureau said Wednesday.

China Petrochemical Corp, also known as Sinopec, the world's largest refiner by volume, said it will further boost its green hydrogen manufacturing capacity and expand its hydrogen refueling network nationwide to build itself into China's largest hydrogen company, the company said on Friday.

Chinese online discounter Pinduoduo Inc on Thursday launched the beta version of Temu, a cross-border e-commerce platform targeting the US market, the company's first overseas destination. The test version of Temu will run till Sept 15. Eventually, it will help Pinduoduo to expand sources of its revenue and hedge against the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, industry experts said.

US chip designer Nvidia Corp, a key source of computing chips for Chinese companies, announced late on Thursday that "the US government has authorized exports, reexports, and in-country transfers needed to continue its development of H100 integrated circuits", according to a Bloomberg report.
