China will introduce nationwide negative list for cross-border trade in services to create more market access for global companies, officials said on Thursday. The nation has reduced the industries covered by a negative list for foreign investment for five consecutive years. The off-limit items for foreign investors were cut to 31 in the 2021 version of the negative list from 33 in the 2020 version, while the 2021 negative list for foreign investment in industries under pilot free-trade zones was reduced to 27 from 30.

China Petrochemical Corp, also known as Sinopec, the world's largest refiner by volume, said it will further boost its green hydrogen manufacturing capacity and expand its hydrogen refueling network nationwide to build itself into China's largest hydrogen company, the company said on Friday.

JD Logistics, the logistics arm of Chinese e-commerce giant JD, has obtained approval from aviation authorities to put its self-owned air cargo fleet into operation, a key move expected to help JD boost its long-haul freight capacity, improve delivery efficiency and ensure the stability of supply chains, industry experts said.

The Chinese mainland Friday reported 440 locally-transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 128 were in Sichuan Province, the National Health Commission said Saturday. Altogether 1,379 local asymptomatic carriers were newly identified on Friday, including 524 in Tibet and 168 in Heilongjiang, said the commission in its report.

China's research and development (R&D) spending intensity, or the expenditure on R&D as a percentage of its gross domestic product, built up to 2.44 percent in 2021, shows a yearly statistical bulletin. The rate, jumping from 1.91 percent in 2012, ranks the top among developing countries and is higher than the European Union's average level, said Liu Huifeng, a researcher from the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development.

Market supply of China's daily necessities is generally sufficient, with slight price fluctuations, an official with the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday. Wholesale prices of grain, pork, eggs and vegetables went up by 0.4 percent, 1.4 percent, 4 percent and 6.2 percent, respectively, in the week from Aug 22 to Aug 28, compared with the first week of August, ministry spokeswoman Shu Jueting told a press conference.
