China is currently conducting monovalent and multivalent vaccine research and development against Omicron variants through multiple technical routes. Chinese vaccines still protect against severe illness and death caused by Omicron variants, said Feng Zijian, executive vice president and secretary general of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association. Feng made the remarks at a press conference held by the State Council joint prevention and control mechanism against COVID-19 on Saturday.

Using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), or the "China Sky Eye," scientists have identified over 660 new pulsars. Pulsars (fast-spinning neutron stars) originate from the imploded cores of massive dying stars through supernova explosions. With their high density and fast rotation, they are an ideal laboratory for studying the laws of physics in extreme environments.

Most of the capital goods monitored by the government saw lower prices in mid-July compared with early July, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on Sunday. Of the 50 major goods monitored by the government, including seamless steel tubes, gasoline, coal, fertilizer, and some agricultural products mainly used for processing, 42 saw their prices decline, while five posted higher prices.

China's digital economy reached 45.5 trillion yuan ($6.77 trillion) in 2021, up 16 percent year-on-year, and ranked second in the world, according to a new report released at the ongoing fifth Digital China Summit in Fuzhou, Fujian province. The report showed that as of the end of 2021, the scale of China’s computing power also ranked second in the world, and the average annual growth rate of computing power in the past five years has exceeded 30 percent.

The move came after NetDragon's business footprint has expanded to more than 192 countries and regions in the world, accumulating over 150 million users.

The Chinese mainland Saturday reported 87 locally-transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 26 in Gansu and 23 in Guangxi, the National Health Commission said Sunday. Altogether 782 local asymptomatic carriers were newly identified in 13 provincial-level regions on Saturday. A total of 123 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland on Saturday, said the commission.
