China's foreign direct investment (FDI) totaled $74.47 billion during the first four months of this year, up 26.1 percent on a yearly basis. FDI flows into the central and western regions surged by 43.7 percent and 26.9 percent year-on-year respectively in the period.

Digitalization has provided China's automobile industry with more opportunities to strengthen its resilience, battle risks, and identify growth potential. Electrification is the first phase of the automobile revolution, while digitalization and intelligent connectivity form the second phase, said Chen Qingtai, president of China EV100, an electric vehicle industry think tank.

China will strengthen policy support for the automobile industry in an effort to release auto consumption potential, the State Council said at a meeting on Wednesday. G7 nations' ban on Russian gold imports may drive up global gold prices, but the market impact is expected to be limited, experts said. "Russia produces about 10 percent of the world's gold output. Therefore, the export ban on Russian gold could reduce the global supply and support gold prices. Supply in 2022 will turn from a decline in 2021 to an increase on recovery of gold mines and rising gold recovery," said Zhu Yi, a senior analyst with metals and mining at Bloomberg Intelligence, a market monitor.

With the launch of a new terminal at Yichang Sanxia Airport, the city will embrace a new chapter as a modern comprehensive transportation hub, and drive the coordinated development of nearby regions, local officials said. On Thursday, a flight of 9Air, a low-budget airline, flew from Yichang, Hubei province, to Guangzhou, Guangdong province, indicating the new terminal 2 of Yichang Sanxia Airport had been officially put into use.

China's National Meteorological Center on Monday renewed its yellow alert for rainstorms in many parts of the country. From 2 pm Monday to 2 pm Tuesday, rainstorms are expected in parts of Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangxi and Tibet.
