China's top economic regulator on Tuesday unveiled a new plan to spur the bioeconomy during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), in a bid to promote high-quality development of the sector.

China can maintain long-term steady market development with sufficient supply and stable prices for commodities, and will further roll out more measures to support all kinds of market entities to develop and grow, said an official with the country's top market regulator.

Pfizer, the global biopharmaceutical company, held a launch ceremony for Cibinqo – an oral, once-daily highly selective JAK1 (Janus kinase 1) inhibitor, for treating adult patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis -- in China on Sunday.Launch ceremonies for this product were held in 10 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, across China.

The Chinese mainland on Monday reported 349 confirmed local COVID-19 cases, of which 234 were in Shanghai, the National Health Commission said on Tuesday. Apart from Shanghai, seven other provincial-level regions on the mainland saw new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, including 61 in Beijing and 25 in Henan.

China will further expand the industry catalog of sectors encouraging foreign investment, authorities said. The new list will add 238 more items, while up to 114 existing ones will be modified with expansion, said a notice issued by China's National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce (MOC).

China will carry out pilot projects for the integration of domestic and foreign trade and form a batch of replicable experiences and practices to promote this trading form within three years, according to a circular released by the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday.

China is set to drive global economic growth and inject new vitality into global recovery, a leading Bangladeshi economist told Xinhua in an interview on Monday. "China did well during COVID-19 which may be the example for other nations," said Md Aynul Islam, general secretary of the Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA), noting that enormous resources and community cooperation have been put to rein in infections with less disruption to life and economy.
