China's leading automaker FAW Group Co., Ltd. said it will put more than 100 smart cars of the Hongqi brand in operation, technologically co-driven by humans and vehicles, in the northeastern city of Changchun.

China issued trial guidelines on automobile data protection on Friday in a move to protect drivers' privacy and safeguard national security as vehicles are becoming increasingly digitalized in the world's largest auto market.

The Chinese mainland on Saturday reported four new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, of which three were in Shanghai and one in Jiangsu, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Sunday. Also reported were 28 new imported cases. Nine were reported in Shanghai, seven in Yunnan, six in Guangdong, two in Hubei and one each in Beijing, Tianjin, Henan and Sichuan.

Chinese tech company Xiaomi Corp on Friday denied market rumors that it is in negotiations with Chinese property company Evergrande Group to buy 65 percent of the latter's carmaking business.

China has released a slew of policies to turbocharge the energy storage industry, which industry insiders believe will bring huge opportunities to enterprises in the country. Power generation firms are encouraged to build energy storage facilities and improve their capability to shift peak loads, a notice co-released by the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration said.
