The Shenzhou XII mission crew carried out their second extravehicular activity, commonly known as a spacewalk, on Friday outside the core module of China's permanent space station, according to the China Manned Space Agency. The agency said that Major General Nie Haisheng, the mission commander, and Major General Liu Boming closed the hatch of the airlock cabin at 2:33 pm after flying back into the core module. They worked outside the craft for about six hours, completing their tasks nearly one hour ahead of the original schedule.

Expected acceleration of reform of China's tax system this year could help drive policymakers' initiatives for ushering in common prosperity, a national goal, officials and experts said on Thursday. Tax reforms will focus on improving local government levies and raising the proportion of direct taxes like income tax and property tax in the nation's overall tax system.

Taiyuan Customs on Friday said that the imports and exports of North China's Shanxi province totalled 133.57 billion yuan (about $20.54 billion) from January to July this year, up 93.7 percent year-on-year. The province's exports increased 106.9 percent to 82.05 billion yuan, and its imports reached 51.52 billion yuan, an increase of 75.8 percent year-on-year.

The strategic restructuring of Ansteel Group Corp Ltd (Ansteel), the Liaoning province-based centrally administered State-owned enterprise, and Ben Gang Group Corp (Ben Gang), another Liaoning-based steelmaker, will create the world's third-largest steel manufacturer by production volume, the country's top State asset regulator announced on Friday.

Tencent Holdings Ltd announced a plan to double its fund for social charitable causes in a bid to help promote "common prosperity" in China. The internet giant is investing an additional 50 billion yuan ($7.7 billion) on supporting everything from rural revitalization, enhancing efficiency of the rural economy, increasing incomes for low-income people, funding inclusive education programs and other measures to enhance social fairness, the company said on Thursday though its official WeChat channel.

Realme, a fast-growing Chinese smartphone vendor, has unveiled its first laptop, the Realme Book. The move came after the company had sold over 100 million smartphones worldwide, and is part of Realme's latest push to build a robust internet of things ecosystem.

The Ningxia Hui autonomous region will further step up the development of solar, wind, hydro power and hydrogen energy and make clean energy the principal part of energy consumption increase by 2025, an official said.
