2023 Guangdong Brussels Economic and Trade Exchanges and Promotion of Guangdong Free Trade Zone was successfully held at Tangla hotel in the afternoon on 10th July 2023 in Brussels, Belgium.
This government delegation,led by Mr. Shuang Dehui, deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce, consists of delegates from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce, Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Nansha Free Trade Zone. During the conference, government officials have carried out all aspects of the promotion to more than 40 enterprise representatives from over 10 countries of the European Union, organized by European American Chamber id Commerce and Industry.
Even though it was the summer holiday in Europe, EU enterprises still travelled a long way from Spain, Switzerland and Italy to Brussels, or came from Holland, France and Germany to participate in the conference by driving or taking a few hours train, and showed great expectation and enthusiasm for Guangdong, China.
Before the start of meeting, a promotional film about Guangzhou, Nansha and Huangpu was shown in the venue.
Mr. Wu Gang, Minister Counsellor of China in Belgium, sent his greetings from Ambassador Cao Zhongming and attended this event with Secretary Fan in his busy schedule. His fluent bilingual speech in English and Chinese drew warm applause from the audience. Counsellor Wu made a detailed analysis of the economic situation in Europe and China, and put forward the initiative that Chinese entrepreneurs are the “World Economic Driving Force”, so that China can become the backbone in the recovery of the world economy.
Next was a speech by Mrs Gao Ying, Chairwoman of the European American Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Next, Mr. Shuang Dehui, Deputy Director General of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce, gave an informative presentation on Guangdong's foreign investment policy. The location of Guangdong in China highlights its advantage as the most active province in China. The ability to lead the delegation abroad and seek deeper co-operation with the international community is a demonstration of Guangdong Province's determination to forge ahead and expand investment and trade in the face of the complex international situation. Mr. Shuang also hopes that foreign businessmen can make a site visit to Guangzhou recently and deeply feel the internationalized investment promotion actions of Guangdong Province.
Besides, Mr. Jan Simons, President of International Trade and Investment Center came from Netherlands directly to attend this conference in Belgium. He gave a presentation and analysis on the overall situation of European Union and China in the field of bilateral investment and trade and shared his ideas and suggestion on the development direction of global investment and trade between two sides in the future, which it is good for Chinese enterprises and EU enterprises to explore and discuss. After the meeting, ITIC and EAcham has signed a long-term strategic cooperation and set up offices in Holland and Guangdong, China.
The video presentation of eight Guangdong enterprises and the introduction of the favorable policy for investment and trade in Guangdong province did not disappoint all present enterprises. The Department of Commerce of the Guangdong province invited some Dutch enterprises to Guangdong for in-depth exchanges.
At the same time, European American Chamber of Commerce and Industry also conducted business matching and negotiation with the provincial Department of Commerce and other tripartite organizations. In order to promote economic and trade exchanges between Guangdong and the EU, all parties will forge ahead and live up to expectations.
