China's digital economy, ranking second in the world for many years, has seen robust growth and become a major growth engine for the country marching toward modernization. The scale of China's digital economy reached 50.2 trillion yuan ($7.25 trillion) in 2022, accounting for 41.5 percent of the GDP, said a report on digital China development released Thursday.

Convention and exhibition businesses in Guangdong province have shown strong recovery since early this year, with a significant increase seen both in exhibition numbers and area, according to the local industry association. The number of exhibitions in Guangdong increased 330 percent year-on-year to 116 in the first three months, with exhibition areas soaring 412 percent year-on-year during the same period to 4.36 million square meters, said the Guangdong Fairs Organizers Association.

The scale of China's digital economy grew to 50.2 trillion yuan ($7.25 trillion) in 2022, with year-on-year nominal growth of 10.3 percent and ranking second globally, an industry report released on Thursday revealed. The share of the digital economy in the country's GDP rose to 41.5 percent, according to the report on the development of China's digital industry released at the ongoing 6th Digital China Summit.

The second five-day phase of the 133rd China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) concluding on Thursday in the southern city of Guangzhou, saw brisk traffic and business. By the end of Wednesday, visits to the venues stood at 815,000 in the second phase, while export deals worth over $4.5 billion were signed, Shu Jueting, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, told a press conference.
