China's cross-border e-commerce speeds up development with the aid of digital technology, People's Daily overseas edition reported on Wednesday. The scale of China's cross-border e-commerce witnessed 18.6 percent growth to reach 1.92 trillion yuan ($290 billion) in 2021, according to data from the customs.

Regular passenger flights between Chongqing and Bangkok, Thailand, resumed on Saturday afternoon at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport after being suspended for nearly two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The flights — currently scheduled for once a week — are operated by Thai Smile, a subsidiary of national flag carrier Thai Airways.

Total container throughput of China's ports will continue to grow this year, giving support to the country's foreign trade and global supply chain operations, according to a report released on Tuesday.

China's foreign direct investment (FDI) totaled $74.47 billion during the first four months of this year, up 26.1 percent on a yearly basis. FDI flows into the central and western regions surged by 43.7 percent and 26.9 percent year-on-year respectively in the period.

The Chinese mainland on Tuesday reported 57 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 16 in Guangdong and eight in Gansu, the National Health Commission said on Wednesday. Altogether 204 local asymptomatic carriers were newly identified in 11 provincial-level regions.

China's exports are expected to maintain stable growth during the second half of the year as trade activity continues to vitalize, providing stronger support to overall economic expansion, according to trade experts and economists on Wednesday.

China's imports and exports increased by 9.4 percent year-on-year during the first half of 2022 to 19.8 trillion yuan ($2.94 trillion), according to latest Customs data released on Wednesday. The exports came in at 11.14 trillion yuan, surging 13.2 percent on a yearly basis, while the imports valued at 8.66 trillion yuan, growing 4.8 percent from a year ago.
