China's foreign direct investment (FDI) totaled $74.47 billion during the first four months of this year, up 26.1 percent on a yearly basis. FDI flows into the central and western regions surged by 43.7 percent and 26.9 percent year-on-year respectively in the period.

The Chinese mainland on Saturday reported five locally-transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said Sunday. Shanghai reported three, and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Liaoning Province each reported one, said the commission.

Shanghai's recent COVID-19 cluster infections originated from undetected community cases in downtown and have connections with each other, according to the city's Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
