Southwest China's Chongqing municipality saw its foreign trade exceed 197 billion yuan ($30.7 billion) in the first quarter of 2022, an increase of 9.3 percent year-on-year, the city's customs authorities said Wednesday. Of the total, exports rose 14 percent year-on-year to 127.7 billion yuan, while imports gained 1.6 percent to nearly 69.4 billion yuan.

Chinese e-commerce giant JD said on Tuesday that, since April 1, it has relocated 3,246 couriers and sorters nationwide to alleviate delivery pressure and ensure the supply of daily necessities in Shanghai following a COVID-related citywide lockdown.

The Chinese mainland Tuesday reported 2,753 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 2,494 were in Shanghai, according to the National Health Commission (NHC)'s report on Wednesday. Apart from Shanghai, 14 other provincial-level regions on the mainland saw new local COVID-19 cases, including 133 in the northeastern province of Jilin, and two in Beijing.
