Shanghai recorded 60 new regional headquarters of multinationals in 2021, bringing the total number of such regional headquarters to 831, said Gong Zheng, the mayor of Shanghai, at a press conference Sunday. The number of foreign-invested research centers in Shanghai reached 506, with a rise of 25 in 2021.

Internet giant Tencent topped the list of 500 most valuable private Chinese companies in 2021, according to a new ranking released by a Shanghai-based research institute. Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL), China's leading automotive lithium-ion battery maker, made it to the top 10 for the first time in the list compiled by Hurun Research Institute.

China's garment industry continued its streak of expansion in the first 11 months of last year, reporting growth in production, revenue and profit, official data showed. China will start promotion of inbound tourism at an appropriate time after the global COVID-19 pandemic is under effective control, the State Council, China's cabinet, announced on Thursday. On the premise that the pandemic is effectively contained, China will promote inbound tourism in an orderly manner, steadily develop outbound tourism, and continue to promote tourism exchanges, according to a guideline on the Chinese tourism market during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) released by the State Council.

A total of 72 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19 have been reported related to the 2022 Olympic Winter Games between January 4 and 22, the Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee (BOCOG) announced on Sunday. Among those confirmed positive cases, 39 were detected in entry tests and 33 in closed-loop tests.
