Southwest China's Guizhou province saw it's GDP hit 1.96 trillion yuan ($309 billion) in 2021, up 8.1 percent year-on-year, official data shows. The province's average GDP growth over the past two years was 6.3 percent, according to a government work report delivered at the fifth session of the 13th Guizhou Provincial People's Congress which opened on Thursday.

Foreign trade volume of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region reached approximately 123.6 billion yuan ($19.5 billion) in 2021, up 17.2 percent year-on-year, said the local authorities.

Starbucks China has added a new delivery platform to its bouquet of services in China, in the form of a presence on Meituan, an e-commerce and delivery mobile app. This additional channel, Starbucks said, will enable its customers to better connect with the brand and its services offered through local stores, besides enriching individual experiences.

Beijing reported seven locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and five asymptomatic carriers from midnight to 4 pm Friday, according to local authorities. Since January 15, the city has reported a total of 18 confirmed local COVID-19 cases and five asymptomatic cases in the districts of Haidian, Chaoyang, Fengtai and Fangshan, said Pang Xinghuo, deputy head of the municipal disease prevention and control center.

Guangdong CDC reminds: starting January 11, people with a travel history to Beijing’s Haidian, Chaoyang, Fengtai, Fangshan, Shunyi, Dongcheng, Xicheng, Tongzhou districts are called upon to report to the community where they live and accept corresponding health management measures. Residents coming to Guangzhou from outside the province should receive a nucleic acid test and conduct 14-day self-health monitoring.

Shanghai will empower its Pudong New Area to better carry out its leading role in high-level reform and opening-up and implement major national strategic tasks this year, the city's mayor said on Thursday. Shanghai, which is expected to see its GDP rise 5.5 percent this year, will build Pudong into a leading area for socialist modernization construction, exploring and carrying out comprehensive reform pilots, and formulate and implement a list of special measures to ease market access, said Mayor Gong Zheng.
