China's Ministry of Commerce is willing to join with economic and trade authorities of the five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan — to further propel economic and trade cooperation, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao said.

While the A-share new energy sector soared in 2021 as China vowed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, new energy and sustainable investment will remain a major theme in the next 12 months based on the promising outlook of related industries, analysts said. As calculated by Beijing-based Securities Daily, 64 percent of the 39 securities firms releasing 2022 investment strategies by the end of 2021 have rated carbon neutrality a key investment theme in 2022.

Policies to help advance infrastructure construction are now making impacts and are expected to facilitate a steady recovery in fixed asset investments, an official said. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced on Monday that China's fixed-asset investments went up 4.9 percent year-on-year in 2021. The growth rate comes in at 3.9 percent measured by a two-year average.

The Chinese mainland on Sunday reported 163 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Monday. Of the new local cases, 80 were reported in Tianjin, 68 in Henan, nine in Guangdong, five in Shaanxi and one in Guangxi, the commission said.

China launched a new satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in the northern province of Shanxi on Monday. The satellite, Shiyan-13, was launched by a Long March-2D rocket at 10:35am (Beijing Time) and entered the planned orbit successfully.
