Guangxi Auto, a major Chinese automaker, joined hands with Japanese electric car developer ASF Co Ltd to develop electric vehicles for logistics distribution in Japan. The cooperation pact was inked during the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Business Leaders Forum in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Thursday.

The city of Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, on Saturday downgraded the classifications of five areas from medium-risk for COVID-19 to low-risk, according to a press conference held on Saturday afternoon. The city currently has a total of three high-risk areas and 55 medium-risk areas.

The Chinese mainland on Friday reported 95 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Saturday. Of the new local cases, 46 were reported in Shaanxi, 43 in Henan, four in Zhejiang, and two in Guangdong, the commission said.

China's new negative lists for foreign investment, taking effect on Jan 1, 2022, will open up the economy and promote high-quality economic development. Items on the negative lists nationwide and for pilot free trade zones (FTZs) were cut to 31 and 27, down 6.1 percent and 10 percent, respectively. From 2017 to 2020, China cut items on the two negative lists from 93 and 122, to 33 and 30, respectively, introducing major opening-up measures in industries including financing and automobiles.

Xiaomi Corp said on Thursday that it has always operated in accordance with applicable laws and regulations around the world and it will continue to communicate with the concerned Indian authorities about tax issues.

The US chip giant Micron Technology Inc said its output of computer memory chips in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, is affected to some extent by the COVID-19 outbreak in the city, but it is working with the local government to minimize impact of the situation and maintain operations at the site safely.

The foldable smartphone market is poised to witness speedy growth in China, as major domestic display makers scale up production capacities in flexible screens along with the maturity of technologies and cost reductions, industry analysts said.
