The pickup in China's manufacturing sector in December has raised more hopes that economic momentum may improve this year amid stronger policy support and abating cost pressure, experts said on Monday. "Tax and fee cuts, the issuance of local government special bonds and supportive monetary and credit policies are poised to be ramped up at the beginning of the year," said Wen Bin, chief researcher at China Minsheng Bank.

China's service trade rose 14.7 percent year-on-year to reach 4.68 trillion yuan ($734.29 billion) in the first 11 months of this year, the Ministry of Commerce said Tuesday. Service exports totaled 2.24 trillion yuan, up 31.5 percent from a year ago, and service imports stood at 2.44 trillion yuan, up 2.6 percent year-on-year.

The growing number of China-Europe freight train services is contributing to stabilizing global supply chains during the COVID-19 pandemic. There were a total of 15,000 freight train services linking China and Europe last year, a year-on-year increase of 22 percent, according to the China State Railway Group, the national railway operator.

The Chinese mainland on Monday reported 108 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Tuesday. Of the new local cases, 95 were reported in Shaanxi, eight were reported in Zhejiang, and five in Henan, the commission said.
