China will push forward its green and low-carbon transition while stepping up domestic oil and gas production and diversifying sources of energy to ensure supply in the country next year, the National Energy Administration said during its annual meeting last week.

Chinese authorities on Wednesday unveiled a plan to facilitate the development of the country's raw materials industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). By 2025, a new development pattern for China's raw materials sector that features higher quality, better profitability and distribution, low carbon, and more security will take shape, said the plan. It was issued jointly by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and two other government bodies.

Chinese conglomerate Geely Holding Group said on Wednesday that its premium electric vehicle brand, Zeekr, has partnered with Waymo to develop an electric vehicle model for the Alphabet subsidiary's robotaxi fleet in the United States.

China's international goods and services trade surplus stood at 287.9 billion yuan ($45 billion) in November, official data showed on Thursday. Last month, the country's trade income reached 2.19 trillion yuan and expenditure neared 1.9 trillion yuan, according to data released by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.

EHang Holdings Limited, a leading autonomous aerial vehicle technology platform company, has partnered with a local communications investment company to jointly launch an intelligent air mobility experience center in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province.The center, located in the city's Huangpu district, is designed to develop into a new operation spot with infrastructures armed with 5G technology for the EHang's autonomous aerial vehicles, according to the company.

China ranked fourth in the world by mobile internet download speed this year according to Speedtest by Ookla, a web testing and network diagnostics company.The United Arab Emirates and South Korea maintained their first and second place rankings in 2021, with Qatar at No 3, according to the company's global index that tracks countries' internet speed.
