The Chinese mainland on Monday reported 60 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Tuesday. Of the new local cases, 55 were reported in Inner Mongolia, two each in Heilongjiang and Yunnan and one in Zhejiang.

China Unicom, a major Chinese telecom carrier, said on Monday it will step up its push to hone its sprawling 5G network infrastructure and gain an upper hand in the era of the internet of things. Liu Liehong, chairman of China Unicom, said the Beijing-based company aims to build a sound digital infrastructure for high-quality social and economic development and make the leap from supporting basic telecom connections to enabling smart connections of all things.

In the first three quarters of 2021, Hong Kong's direct investment in Beijing reached $10.63 billion, accounting for about 80 percent of the total use of foreign investment in the capital city, a senior government official said Monday.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Monday called for enhancing unity and cooperation to jointly drive steady recovery of the world economy. "Cooperation among all should be enhanced to promote the steady recovery of the world economy and early victory over COVID-19," Li said while holding the sixth "1+6" Roundtable in Beijing via video link with heads of major international economic organizations.
