Bullish on China's innovation-driven biopharmaceutical environment, Takeda Pharmaceutical Co vows to further enlarge its investment in China, a top official of the Japanese drugmaker said. Takeda plans to raise its revenue growth in emerging markets to account for one-fifth of its projected total by fiscal year 2031, up from the current roughly 13 percent, said Ricardo Marek, president of Takeda's growth and emerging markets business unit.

More of the world's latest imported high-end medical devices are being produced locally in Shanghai under the country's new marketing authorization holder, or MAH system – which helps to give patients quicker access to better health products and services. Two companies – multinational Smith & Nephew Medical (Shanghai) and Flextronics (Shanghai) Metal Parts – are said to have set a great example in the use of the new system.

China has begun a series of large wind power and photovoltaic projects in its desert areas since mid-October, the country's top economic planner said Saturday. According to the National Development and Reform Commission, these projects are situated in North China's Inner Mongolia and Northwest China's Gansu, Qinghai and Ningxia, with an installed capacity of nearly 30 million kilowatts.

Shanghai Disney Resort is under temporary lockdown on Sunday evening as the resort was cooperating with pandemic investigation in another province. "We have temporarily suspended entry into Shanghai Disneyland and Disneytown, and some attractions inside the park will also temporarily stop operating. Outdoor entertainment will continue as scheduled," the resort said in a statement on Sunday.

The Chinese mainland on Saturday reported 48 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Sunday. Of the new local cases, 19 were reported in Heilongjiang, 10 in Inner Mongolia, nine in Gansu, three each in Shandong and Ningxia, two in Yunnan, and one each in Beijing and Jiangxi, the commission said.

The purchasing managers' index (PMI) for China's non-manufacturing sector came in at 52.4 in October, down from 53.2 in September, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Sunday. A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a reading below it reflects contraction.
