A total of 11 provincial-level regions have been affected within a week as a fresh outbreak of COVID-19 emerged in China, a spokesperson with the National Health Commission (NHC) said Sunday. Sporadic cases reported in various regions have been increasing ever since October 17, Mi Feng, spokesperson for the NHC, told a press conference.

Northwest China's Gansu Province reported six new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday, according to the provincial health commission on Sunday. The six people, five from the provincial capital Lanzhou and one from the city of Zhangye, have been sent to designated hospitals for treatment.

China successfully launched a new satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province Sunday. The satellite, Shijian-21, was launched at 9:27 am (Beijing Time) by a Long March-3B carrier rocket and entered the planned orbit successfully.

China's crude oil production rose 3.2 percent year-on-year to 16.61 million tons in September, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The growth rate was up by 0.9 percentage points from the previous month, and the country's daily average output of crude oil came in at 554,000 tons.

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus said since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been rebuilding and diversifying its global supply chain and cooperating with more Chinese enterprises, as it has confidence in the manufacturing quality offered by its Chinese suppliers.

The Chinese mainland on Saturday reported 26 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Sunday. Of the new local cases, seven were reported in Inner Mongolia, six each in Gansu and Ningxia, four in Beijing, and one each in Hebei, Hunan and Shaanxi, the commission said.
