China's central bank governor vowed to keep strengthening regulation of financial technology companies, focusing on areas including payment services, antitrust issues and data protection. Yi Gang, governor of the People's Bank of China, made his keynote speech, "China's Experience with Regulating Big Tech", at the 11th research network meeting of the Bank for International Settlements on Thursday.

China's courier sector handled more parcels during the recent seven-day National Day holiday compared to the same period last year, the State Post Bureau said. Some 1.99 billion parcels were collected during the break, which ended Thursday, a rise of 28.31 percent year on year. A total of 1.92 billion parcels were delivered, up 25.71 percent from a year earlier, the bureau said.

China's used car sales climbed 40.4 percent in the January-August period from the year-earlier level, data from the Ministry of Commerce showed. The sales volume is 22.8 percent higher than that for the same period of 2019 or the pre-pandemic level.

The Chinese mainland on Saturday reported 24 new COVID-19 cases, all imported from outside the mainland, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Sunday.Ten of the cases were reported in Yunnan, while six were reported in Shanghai, two in Shandong, and one each in Liaoning, Zhejiang, Fujian, Henan, Guangxi and Sichuan, according to the commission.

Jiefang, a truck brand of China's leading automaker FAW Group, will invest over 30 billion yuan (about $4.64 billion) to develop new energy vehicles (NEVs) during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the company announced Wednesday.

Chinese e-commerce giant JD is beefing up efforts to expand its presence in Indonesia by continuously investing in supply chain infrastructure and cutting-edge technologies. It will introduce artificial intelligence-powered unmanned supermarkets and virtual makeup technologies and services in Indonesia, said Zhang Li, chief executive officer of JD.ID, JD's e-commerce joint venture in Indonesia.
