Cargo throughput at China's ports posted accelerated growth in August as the country's foreign trade sustained its growth momentum, data from the Ministry of Transport shows.

In August, China's ports handled 1.35 billion tonnes of cargo, up 4.9 percent year on year, according to the ministry. The growth rate accelerated 3.9 percentage points from that seen in July.

China Energy Engineering Group Co Ltd, or Energy China Group, has vowed to further expand its world business especially in clean energy projects abroad, as it set up its global business subsidiary, China Energy International Group Co Ltd, in Beijing on Wednesday.

Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region transmitted a record high 93.5 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of locally generated electricity to other parts of the country in the first three quarters of 2021, up 22.4 percent year on year, according to the Xinjiang Electricity Trading Center.

A space refueling vehicle built by China made its debut at the ongoing 13th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China 2021). The refueling vehicle has been developed by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST) under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

Global aviation industry players are promoting energy saving and carbon-reduction measures, and seeking alternatives to fossil fuels in powering commercial aircraft to ultimately achieve carbon-neutral growth.

China's used car sales climbed 40.4 percent in the January-August period from the year-earlier level, data from the Ministry of Commerce showed.The sales volume is 22.8 percent higher than that for the same period of 2019 or the pre-pandemic level.

China's international goods and services trade surplus stood at 291.6 billion yuan (about $45 billion) in August, official data showed. The country's trade income amounted to approximately 2 trillion yuan, and expenditure stood at around 1.71 trillion yuan, according to data released by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.
