Real estate investment activity picked up in Shanghai in the first half of 2021, with greatly improved interest from institutional buyers, according to the latest research from major international property consultancies. Between January and June, 39 en bloc deals valued at a total of 29.4 billion yuan (US$4.54 billion) were completed in the city, an increase of 80 percent and 19 percent, respectively, from the second half of 2020, according to data released by Cushman & Wakefield.

Songjiang District is taking a digital approach to a wide range of areas – from economic development and social security to district operations and people's livelihoods – to empower its development through smart technologies. More than 41,000 trips have been made on the freight train services connecting China and Europe, official data shows. According to the China State Railway Group, the national railway operator, there were 7,377 China-Europe trips in the first half of this year, up 43 percent on the same period last year.

With Central Asia's largest wind power project, the Zhanatas 100-megawatt wind farm in Kazakhstan, beginning full operations on June 20 after its last turbine was connected to the power grid, its operator, State Power Investment Corp, is further expanding its global presence.

China's central authorities have released a plan on modernizing the system and capacity for primary-level governance.The plan, issued by the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council, stresses upholding the full leadership of the Party over governance at primary level, and focuses on improving people's well-being.
