A man in Zhengzhou, capital city of central China's Henan Province, runs a shared kitchen near Henan Cancer Hospital to help family members of patients cook meals and has not raised prices for six years, Henan TV reported on Tuesday. Anyone who uses the kitchen pays just 5 yuan (77 US cents), while all the kitchenware, seasonings and flour are free of charge, the report said.

China on Wednesday unveiled a new development plan to spur the circular economy in the next five years, according to the country's top economic regulator. The new document, released by the National Development and Reform Commission, said it is of great significance to vigorously develop a circular economy and promote resource conservation and recycling, which will help ensure national resource security and further China's pledge to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and become carbon-neutral by 2060.

The foreign trade volume of Central China's Hunan province exceeded 211 billion yuan ($32.7 billion) in the first five months of 2021, up 25.9 percent year-on-year, according to local authorities. Exports reached over 143 billion yuan and imports hit nearly 68.1 billion yuan, respectively rising 29.5 percent and 18.8 percent compared with the same period last year, the Hunan provincial commerce department said.

Pagoda Group, China's leading retail fresh fruit platform, said it is looking to boost cooperation with countries under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism despite the COVID-19 pandemic."Despite uncertainties brought by the contagion, Pagoda will boost cooperation with LMC economies within the whole industry chain, especially in fruit production, processing and circulation," said Yu Huiyong, founder and chairman of Pagoda.

The city of Ruili in southwest China's Yunnan Province on Wednesday reported 23 positive samples in the first round of citywide nucleic acid testing for COVID-19 amid the recent resurgence in infections. From July 4 until the end of Tuesday, the city had sampled 265,432 local residents, with 23 testing positive. All the positive samples are from residents in Jiegao, a border community in Ruili.

An agriculture innovation park featuring the application of the latest advanced greenhouse technologies has recently gone into operation in Chongming District. Covering 1,979 mu (133 hectares) of land with the first phase of 543 mu, it has the capacity to supply 30 to 40 tons of vegetables daily to city residents, including cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet peppers and lettuce.
