Profits of China's major industrial firms saw accelerated growth in the first two months of this year as the economy further firms up from the COVID-19-induced woes, official data showed Saturday.Industrial firms with an annual business turnover of at least 20 million yuan (about $3.06 million) saw their combined profits surge 179 percent year-on-year during the Jan-Feb period to 1.11 trillion yuan, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed.

China has decided to impose anti-dumping duties ranging from 116.2 percent to 218.4 percent on Australian wine for a period of five years, starting Sunday, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Friday.In its ruling, the ministry said that Australian wines had been subsidized and sold under market value, resulting in substantial damages to the domestic wine industry.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has released a plan to expand the coverage of the country's gigabit network to benefit more people.The gigabit optical network is expected to cover 200 million Chinese households by the end of this year, which should be doubled to 400 million by the end of 2023, according to the plan.

Chinese internet giant Tencent on Wednesday reported a 28 percent year-on-year growth in revenue for 2020, raking in around 482 billion yuan (about $73.9 billion).The company's net profit, calculated on a non-IFRS basis in order to reflect its core earnings by excluding certain one-time or non-cash items, rose 30 percent year-on-year to reach about 123 billion yuan during the period, according to its financial statement.
