A total of 4,000 China-Europe freight trains have traveled through the Alataw Pass, a major land port in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, this year, hitting a new high.

Central China's Henan province saw its foreign trade grow 2.4 percent to more than 377.1 billion yuan ($56.5 billion) in the first three quarters, customs data showed. Henan's export volume reached 231.9 billion yuan from January to September, down 2.4 percent year-on-year, while imports totaled 145.2 billion yuan, up 11.3 percent, according to Zhengzhou Customs.

Samsung Electronics, South Korea's tech giant, posted a double-digit growth in the third-quarter operating profit thanks to a recovery in global demand, the company said Thursday.Operating profit reached 12.35 trillion won ($10.9 billion) in the July-September quarter, up 58.8 percent from a year earlier. It was the highest in two years since the third quarter of 2018.

US technology and chip giant Qualcomm expects to showcase its applications and practices in frontier technologies at the upcoming China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, and to announce its latest cooperation with its Chinese partners in various fields, Huanqiu.com reported on Thursday.

The 3rd China International Import Expo is set to attract more new exhibitors from various sectors as global companies are increasingly hinging their development and growth prospects on the world's second-largest economy.


China's resilient economic performance, supported by the government's coordinated response to effectively contain the novel coronavirus in the country, could become an important lifeline for the global economic recovery, experts said in response to China's latest economic data.

North China's Hebei province saw its foreign trade grow by 4.8 percent year-on-year to 310.95 billion yuan (about $46.27 billion) in the first three quarters of 2020, customs statistics showed.
